Moon and Sun: Part One

Updated: Sep 7, 2022

I was of the moon, and he was of the sun. Two completely different worlds that held different people and different ways of life.

Different.

Yes, that is a good word for what our encounter was; it was different.

You see, the people of the Solar Kingdom do not usually visit those of us in the Lunar Kingdom. Even so, whenever there is a solar or lunar eclipse, our two kingdoms unite for a moment. In that moment, we are able to get a glimpse into each other's homes.

For example, the Solar Kingdom is full of warm oranges, deep reds, and bright yellows. The people are usually dressed in minimal clothing, if any at all. Naked men, women, and children flood the streets of the Kingdom with their dark hair pinned atop their heads. Their skin is a rich shade of caramel, and their eyes contain a gold glimmer. Thus, each of them are beautiful in a way that resembles their shining, expansive home.

On the other hand, the Lunar Kingdom is full of shimmering grays, endless blacks, and glimmering whites. The people are usually clothed in long dresses or robes that resemble the grays, blacks, and whites around them. Most have silver or white hair that remains long and flowing. Their skin has a luminosity to it, making it twinkle slightly, and their eyes are a mix of blue hues. So, each of them are beautiful in a way that resembles their glowing, meager home.

These two amazing places are different, and this difference makes some of us curious. For instance, I grew curious each time our Kingdoms came into view of each other. I wanted to see what life in their warm home was like, and little did I know, Sulya wanted to know what life in my home was like.

This curiosity of ours sparked a fire within each of us. It is what started the journey that led us to each other.

As a result, he would become my sun, and I would become his moon. Two different people, fated for something magical.
